Presentation
Aula de Cinema is a module organised by Filmoteca de Catalunya together with some Catalan higher education institutions (UPF, UAB, UB, URL, UIC, UVic, Elisava, La Casa del Cine, Bande à Part, ECIB, Educa tu Mirada, FX Animation, Film-Història). This module presents a journey across Film History by focusing on some remarkable works, and proposes some practices and tools for visual analysis and the exploration of new formats. To this purpose, Filmoteca offers a specific programme of 30 screenings ranging from early cinema to contemporary films. Screenings happen throughout the whole academic year, from October to June, and they are always introduced by a scholar from the abovementioned education institutions. To pass the module, students have to attend at least 20 out of the 30 screenings and write a final essay.
In addition, screenings and presentations at Filmoteca will be complemented by some seminars at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, in which different critical methodologies of film analysis will be presented and the films in the programme will be discussed.
The main goal of the module is to watch some crucial films in the history of cinema thanks to the programme at the Filmoteca de Catalunya.
The second goal is to gain a critical approach to film programming by creating a season and planning its divulgation. This work will be developed in partnership with Filmoteca de Catalunya's Education Section and will include programming two sessions of Aula de Cinema programme.
